An Alpine Journey
Travel has always been a major source of nourishment and energy in my life. Over the years, I have traveled to over 40 countries in the world, and Europe is the place that has captivated me the most. Out of all possible travel destinations on the globe, I have always dreamt of going to the Alps.
The Alps are the spine of Europe. Grand and majestic, it is impossible to ignore their existence. The mountain range springs up from the plains on the coast of the Mediterranean near Lyon and extends in a northeast direction passing through North Italy, the western part of Austria and the southwest part of Switzerland, covering Liechtenstein and entering the southern part of Germany. These mammoth mountains are home to the most beautiful natural scenery in Europe.
I chose to take my trip in September 2003. Taking advantage of some down time between European shows, I finally was able to fulfill my long-held dream of traveling to the Alps and started my 11 day tour of the glaciers in the Alps. Since prime destinations in the Alps are located in Austria, Switzerland and France, these three places became the focus of my trip.
Passing by small towns, mountain streams, alpine lakes, meadows, the sights were charming especially the mountain peaks in September. When I gazed at the majestic snow capped peaks, my heart was filled with warmth despite the freezing temperature of the air. The shutter of my camera snapped non-stop! Austria and Switzerland have a solemn, refined beauty as wondrous as nature itself. These ingenious works of art built with human ingenuity and determination were like a soul-stirring melody that echoed incessantly through the Alps.
It is impossible to feel the beauty of the Alps without seeing and experiencing it first hand. Now I will share with you the beauty of the Alps that I captured with my camera. Everyone can follow my footsteps on a vicarious journey through the Alps. I recommend that everyone take the opportunity to travel to these countries themselves. If you travel in happy spirits, I am sure your trip will yield many unexpected rewards.
